TUF 14 Finale Preview

Tonight, a new Featherweight and Bantamweight fighter will earn the right to call themselves the next ultimate fighter when The Ultimate Fighter Season 14 Finale takes place live from Las Vegas. Headlining the event which takes place on Spike TV at 8:00 p.m. will be the coaches Michael Bisping (21-3) taking on Jason “Mayhem” Miller (24-7).

Bisping is looking to earn his fourth straight win and wants to catapult himself into the title picture. Coming off a TKO victory over Jorge Rivera back in February, a win over “Mayhem” should be enough to warrant Bisping a title opportunity. However, the devision is currently loaded with fighters who believe they are next in line for a shot at Anderson Silva, so while a victory may not entitle Bisping a championship fight, it is imperative he wins in order to keep himself in line.

“Mayhem” is competing for the first time since September 2010 when he defeated Japanese MMA legend Kazushi Sakuraba in Japan with a first round arm triangle submission. One of the few MMA fighters to have made a name for themselves outside the UFC, “Mayhem” is one of the most popular and beloved fighters in the sport. The host of the hit MTV show “Bully Beatdown”, “Mayhem” is perceived as a goofball but truly possesses some serious skill. A BJJ black belt, “Mayhem” had previously fought in the UFC once before losing a unanimous decision to Georges St. Pierre back in 2005.

If the fight stays standing, I give the advantage to Bisping. Bisping has the much more technical standup and his kickboxing is fantastic. The only drawback, is the apparent lack of punching power behind Bisping's punches, since he is primarily a point's fighter.

If the fight goes to the ground, I give the advantage to “Mayhem.” Out of “Mayhem's” 24 career victories, 14 have come via some sort of submission. “Mayhem” is a very technical but slick fighter on the ground, and is very good at taking his opponent's back's.

The deciding factor for this fight in my opinion, is who will have the better wrestling. Wrestling is the X-factor and whoever is able to dictate where the fight takes place, will leave Las Vegas with their hand raised.

I am very much looking forward to this fight because I think it will be an exciting, explosive contest. These two are very similar in all aspects of their fighting game and have a real dislike for one another, giving this bout a real grudge type feel. For 10 weeks we have seen both men verbally fight one another and tonight the talk is over and both Bisping and “Mayhem” will settle their beef like men inside the Octagon.

Predictions:
Michael Bisping defeats Jason “Mayhem” Miller via Unanimous Decision
Diego Brandao defeats Dennis Bermudez via KO to become the TUF 14 Featherweight Winner
T.J. Dillashaw defeats John Dodson via Unanimous Decision to become the TUF 14 Bantamweight Winner
Tony Ferguson defeats Yves Edwards via Unanimous Decision
